Learn to thread and operate a sewing machine, then create a simple project. Machines are also available for in-branch use.
This is a two-part programme. You must attend both sessions to complete the project. Part 2 is on Thursday, May 28, 5:30-7:00 pm.
This programme is designed for beginner and experienced adult sewers.
- Please bring your own materials (please see below for materials list).
- You can cut the material at home before the class or during the class.
- If you can bring your own sewing machine, more people can register for the class. Machines provided at the programme will be shared, but personal machines will only be used by their owners.
You will need:
- Scissors/rotary cutters (optional)
Cotton Outer: Width 32cm x Height 52cm (Can be a solid or a pattern. It will be the top portion of the outside of the tote.) - Cotton Lining: Width 32cm x Height 52cm (This will be the inside lining of the tote.)
- Canvas(Bottom): Width 32cm x Height 22cm (Heavier material: Canvas. Solid colour that complements the solid or pattern top portion of the tote.)
- Canvas(Handle): Width 10cm x Height 28cm x 2 pieces (Heavier material: Canvas. These are the handles of the tote.)
- Fusible fleece: Width 30cm x Height 50cm

Fergus Branch is located in downtown Fergus by Templin Gardens. This historic Carnegie building features three floors and houses Library Administration, as well as a rentable meeting room, Wi-Fi, and computer access.
