Enhance your sewing skills as you work on projects that go beyond the basics.

Join us for this 2-session programme and learn the basics of making your own lap-sized quilt. Instructions and demonstrations will happen in class. Materials list for your own quilt is provided below or by contacting the Erin Branch.

Participants must have basic sewing and sewing machine knowledge.

This programme is tailored to sewers who already have some experience using a sewing machine and are ready to handle more advanced projects. When registering, please indicate if you require the use of one of our sewing machines or are bringing your own.

This program is for adults, teens and tweens with adult assistance.

Please register.

 9 patch snowball quilt 1

Nine Patch Snowball Quilt
Approximate size 45” x 63” (without borders)

Fabrics: Use 2 fabrics that are 100% cotton. One fabric should be a light plain coloured fabric (larger background blocks) and the other fabric should be darker and patterned/multicouloured  (9 patch and snowball corners).   For best results make sure that there is a lot of contrast between the two fabrics.  These two fabrics can be switched with the larger blocks being dark and the lighter blocks of the 9 patches and snowball corners being light patterned. Just make sure that there is good contrast between the two.

Material:

Large snowball blocks and 9 patches: 2.5 yds (light colour, no pattern or tone on tone)

9 patch and snowball corners : 1.5 yds (dark coloured, patterned)

Borders: Can be added to make your blocks float or increase quilt size. 3” border add ½ yd of snowball /large block fabric.

Batting and Backing: to be purchased when quilt top is done

Thread: good quality and coordinating/blending colour
